ECO DIVERS - CLEAN UPS …
We specialise in coastal and "in-water" clean ups, specifically targeting fishing debris and plastic. We operate in the North Harbour area (Mosman & Manly) and along the Northern Beaches. Besides well-known events, like Clean Up Australia Day and International Clean Up Day, we always end up bringing rubbish out with us on each dive. Injestment, of plastic bags, balloons, rubber bands, bottle tops, polystyrene foam and numerous other small plastic items is a silent killer of marine animals and birds. Fishing debris, hooks, line, weights, lures, floats, nets, traps, buoys and ropes, are another huge entanglement and injestment risk to marine animals and birds including whales, dolphins, seals and turtles.Every year more than 6 million tonnes of plastic enters the world's oceans. Last summer, we removed over one tonne. 33% of all plastic bags, we brought out, were bait packets! Last month, in one location, we removed over 200km of fishing line!
