ECO DIVERS - MARINE ANIMAL RESCUE …
Due to the things we put in place or leave behind innocent animals of all types are killed or injured every day! Often dying slowly below the surface, unseen by humans, starving to death or drowning as a result of fishing gear, nets, ropes, traps and tackle or dying from ingesting plastic or other animals that have eaten plastic … We swim along beach nets during summer releasing any animal lucky to be alive, documenting those that are not.
We respond to calls to release animals caught in pools or strandings. Earlier this year we were on site to document Australian Seabird Rescue volunteers removing a large hook from a pelican at Kiama .. this was the 400th bird treated for fishing tackle injury by them in only 3 years ! They have just passed 500 rescued pelicans.
We work with many organizations, providing an “in water” and rapid response capability as well as photographic and video recording of the incident.
