We are just realising how important a role this plant plays in the marine environment,
it also has great benefits for us on land too!
Locally we find 3 major species:
They are all sea grasses not seaweed [macro algae]
and are flowering plants much like those above water !
Locally they live in depths to 7 or 8 metres as they require
light to photosynthesise…

- Zostera Capricorni or "eel grass"
- Posidonia Australis or "strap weed"

- A nursery area
- Stablising the sea floor
